 Soccer Schools Minimize

Winter Soccer Schools will be offered again this year at the All Star Sports Arena.  Players will meet 1 time per week for 8 weeks.  Soccer Schools give individual players the ability to practice old skills and learn new skills during the offseason.  Sessions are administered by qualified coaches.  The coaching is aimed at developing the players without the looming challenge of solving team problems for the next game.

Initially Soccer Schools are scheduled for Tuesday or Thursday evening, from 6:00 - 7:00.  More sessions may be added if necessary, but we only have limited opportunities to expand, so sign up soon!

Week 7 Homework:

This week we worked on "deceptive passing" and the "texture" of passes.  The technical aspect of this isn't too hard, and most players had a good handle on the techniques in this one session.  However, learning how and when to apply these techniques can only really be learned by watching the great ones.  I'd like the players to watch an AC Milan game.  They are pretty common on Fox Soccer Channel these days (since Beckham's been there).  In particular, watch Beckham and the texture of his passes.  If your lucky enough to watch a game where Ronaldinho is playing, watch for his deceptive passing techniques.

Week 7 Video links:

This is a video of a 6 year old player in France.  Think about this as you watch this video.  This player is 6 years old.  He couldn't walk for one of those years.  If he's very advanced (which is obviously is) he probably developed an interest in soccer and learning about it at about age 3.  Obviously he's had coaching, but so have you.  So if he can develop this level of skill over 3 years time, why can't you?  If you're a 12 or 13 year old player, you could be amazing by the time you're in HS.  The key is to work with the ball and use all the resources you have to learn and open your mind to the possibilities.
